About the Virtual Repository

The creation of the Virtual Repository of Alzheimer's Disease Biofluids was motivated by the need for access to biofluid samples that have been collected from cohorts of patients with high quality clinical assessments, biomarker measurements, and autopsy. Laboratory scientists who are developing biofluid assays may have little knowledge of, or relationships with, clinicians who collect biofluid samples from subjects.

By forging collaborations between sample providers and sample requestors, we hope to accelerate the identification and validation of potential biofluid-based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to advancing our ability to diagnosis AD, the identification of reliable biofluid-based biomarkers supports the prediction of disease vulnerability and progression, the discovery of new therapeutic targets, and the evaluation of treatment outcomes.
