FAQ for sample providers

We hope to expand this project and are currently soliciting involvement of clinics and laboratories who have samples and who wish to have availability of their samples known.

How can I participate as a sample provider?
If you are interested in participating as a sample provider, please contact

Rachel L. Nosheny, PhD.  Associate Research Scientist, CIND: [email protected]

What type of information about my samples must I provide?

We ask that, at a minimum, each participating site provides a general description of their clinical research program, as well as the contact information of a liason at the site.  However, the amount of information you provide about your samples is entirely up to you.

Is there any obligation to share my samples if I agree to participate?

No, all requests can be accepted or rejected on a case-by-case basis.

How does the Virtual Repository act to facilitate interactions between sample providers and sample requestors?

There are two ways that the VRADB could function to connect those individuals requesting samples with sample providers.

  1. At the request of sample providers on a case-by-case basis, the VRADB may act as a “broker” by requiring formal applications and signed data use agreements from individuals and institutions requesting samples.
  2. Alternately, at the request of individual sample providers the VRADB can also act solely as a place for requestors and providers to connect, and sample requestors can directly contact the sample provider.

The above two options are completely at the discretion of individual sample providers and can be adjusted to meet the needs of each sample provider.
