Virtual Repository of Alzheimer's Disease Biofluids

The Virtual Repository of Alzheimer's Disease Biofluids (VRADB) is a publically posted website and database, managed by the Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIND), which contains an inventory of biofluid (blood, CSF, urine, etc.) samples available from various investigators, institutions, cooperative studies, and pharmaceutical companies who have agreed to share their samples with other qualified researchers.

Instead of collecting the samples themselves in a central location, the VRADB advertises the availability of samples from the individual sites of the participants.  Thus, it allows researchers to share samples without the need for large inventories of samples to be physically stored in a single location.

The overall goal of this project is to facilitate the identification of biofluid-based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease by facilitating collaboration between sample providers and sample requestors.
